Elk Shed Hunting
A few short Elk She hunting trips wrapped together.
HI it’s like 11 o’clock, 11:30. I’M a walk-in GPS says: I’ve got six miles six and a half miles in since sunup this morning, and I found two two sheds so far: both broke the other ones, really really old and broke. I’ve just been hiking and hiking, and I finally hit a canyon and then either got two sheds down here or three sheds or two sheds and one broke in three shirts. Excuse me. So, let’s check it out. Johnny eight up, there’s one so there it is halt within 20 feet of each other. Hopefully we can keep the street going. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Still a little oh help out in here and Arizona just come on a whole family of a javelinas which is pretty cool. A bunch old babies running around they’re. Actually, circling me right now, huffing and grunting. I think they’re pretty tough to get close enough. What bacon for dinner all right here we are second day about 2:30 at the most um. Did a 10-mile this morning found the shed, showed you earlier and decided after 10 miles and finding five sheds. It wasn’t going to work, so here we are a new spot found spike 15 minutes into the walk, which is hopefully a good sign, but then walking up this Ridge, and do you see it? Let’s see if I can zoom in here Wow, I’m a really bad camera guy there. It is, let’s go figure them time to camera. Have you little 6 folder whoa check out that from bean dumping down, oh yeah spike and the six find more you you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you traitor. Well, this kind of sucks. I mean it’s awesome, I’m finding I’m finding sheds now. Finally, but it’s like I don’t know, 3:30, maybe pushing 4 o’clock last day here I want to be head back to truck at 5 and I’m just now getting into them. Take good sheds, not old rotten and decrepid actually done with some size in better condition. There’s five yeah yeah. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Go clear, the top almost about three curves away. Hmm! Now I’m pretty much a dolphin. I start looking I got clearing right here. You can see blue sky right behind me, like that’s top, so let’s keep looking keep finding from all of those that’s actually. This year’s brown looks like, but now it’s a hard white, half and half so well, but . We go through just to pick up . I love it, but some days I think, I’m crazy. I am going up this Canyon and I’m getting a little worried. I might be ledged up. I have to go back down and around the hill to the other side to the next Canyon. I was hoping this Canyon be money, cuz that a pretty good good, that game cell beating up it at the beginning. First half way – and this is steep I mean I don’t know if you can tell – I don’t know what I did, but I to about 11 o’clock been hiking since 8:00. You a couple hundred, I don’t know exactly, but quite a few hundred feet and elevations what we left to get up here and found two. So far we got another one. I just I can see right up here. So let’s go pick. It up go, get your shed room, so it’s not quite as big but we’ll take it nice shoes, brown. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
It’s what we’re looking for right there one day, bonsaI trip goal, is to pick up 20-plus sheds, so we got a bit to go. Come over the hill from finding this little guy. Thank you. Thank you. I’M real! Now we just need to keep it up. We’Re doing good pushes the other side to this big bass. Again. What’s up here, we go tip number four. I believe I’ve been down yourself so many times now, I’m there kind of all running into each other. This is the I’m thinking this might be. My last hoorah before Christmas, so we decided what the hell, let’s pack up and go, got down here late yesterday afternoon way late and spent all day trying to see if we get out of the snow – and you know whether we go lower in elevation lush trees. You know stuff like that, and it’s not going to matter we’re in snow. So what we did was we tried to find somewhere that had the least amount of snow as far as on the ground – and I don’t know we’re probably sitting right here in this country – 3 to 3 inches at the most I mean, and even then around the Trees, you can see it’s it’s starting to melt off, so it looks like it’s going to be a nice clear blue day and we might be able to get some of this melted off a little bit, but ought to be fine here we go elk shed hunting In there in the snow so stay tuned, hopefully you’ll see my ugly mug a lot more here soon with a lot more elk sheds. So I can see tines and it’s not a shed. It’s. It looks like a pretty good dead head. Don’T know how big yet know nothing about it haven’t been to it. So let’s go check it out, yeah, full huge fronts, Peters out in the back. Definitely fine!
You know too much height on him to keep so we’re going to leave them here, but definitely cool probably died during the rat, tangled with a bowl a little bit bigger than him or had had one of the other bowls come in why he was messing with Another bowl and stick him I’ll bet. I don’t know there could be some other signs of step three, but that’s not what I do so yeah right on big thing. Thank you for the opportunity to find such a magnificent beast cool all right. Well, hopping. Almost the day how now it’s probably close to noon so, half the day, just pretty much pushing through this snow, hoping to find some antler, and I guess it’s this one – the toughest toughest things I’ve ever done by far, I’m pretty much essentially looking for camouflaged antlers, Because I’m not looking for Browns laying on the snow or anything like that, I’m looking for hard white sand chalks that have been buried by the snow and it’s tough. I found that dead head. Unfortunately, it was a dead head with too much hair on it. So we didn’t keep it but talk about shit-ass, lock.
I’ve just been walking through this right here and they come through here and I kicked that it was completely under the snow. In fact, right there, it’s cleaned off, because that’s what I kicked: butt yeah, chalky, chalky, chalky old, the broke horn, I’ll say what, when, when this snow melts off, I’m going to come through here and do the exact same exact same path. I’ve been doing just to see what I’ve missed cuz. I know I’m walking past horns. I know I am, but it’s still fun like I said I came too far to just turn around and go back so we’re making the best of it. So thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
